Hunt Dysartsville Real Estate for Game, Gems, History
By HarrisRealty.org

On the edge of Appalachia in the South Mountains, Dysartsville enjoys broad vistas, pristine forests, beautiful game lands, and mountain trout streams.  The Dysartsville real estate options reflect the love of the magnificent outdoors and appreciation of down-home camaraderie.

Large wooded tracts abound—build a log cabin or Southern estate in Dysartsville.  Like low maintenance?  How about a small house right in Dysartsville?  Houses in Glenwood and Old Fort or across I-40 in Marion as well as Nebo homes for sale (7 mi. north) and houses in North Cove are also options.  Some Dysartsville properties are so large that you may decide to call your very own turkey hunt, or simply scoot over to the nearby Dysartsville Game Lands.  You just might discover hidden chambers of quartz crystal on property in McDowell County.

Wonderful properties near Muddy Creek, Katy Creek and Hoppers Creek are the perfect settings for your rosy-cheeked young ones.  The McDowell County schools and a few private schools offer highly regarded educational programs for students.  The several churches in town underline the importance of community.  The kaleidoscope of animal and mineral life will fascinate your children as well as your Inner Child!

North Carolina's newest emerald discovery is located here at the Vein Mountain Gold Camp—the only native emerald mine open to the public in North Carolina.  The ore produces native gold, as well as 40 different types of crystals and gems.  Vein Mountain gold mines were the most productive mines in the United States prior to the gold rush, supplying Bechtler’s Mint in Rutherford County.

In 1980, Congress authorized the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail.  Every summer a two-week long commemorative march passes through town.  Led by Col. McDowell in 1780, the county’s namesake, this is the route of the patriot militia on the way to their victory at the Battle of King’s Mountain.  The gathering is full of special events, ceremonies, and a large dose of community spirit in celebration of the hard-won freedom from the British crown.  Many of the area’s families contributed fathers and sons to that battle two hundred years ago.

Larger cities in the area are within an hour’s drive and so are the splendid attractions that bring people to this area from around the world.  Experience the awe of miles and miles of brilliantly changing autumn leaves through the blue mist of the mountain air near Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi.  Fish at Lake James and shop at the Cherokee Indian Reservation; then whitewater raft, horseback ride, golf or bike.  It may take years to visit Linville Caverns, Smoky Mountains, Tweetsie Railroad, Blowing Rock, Skiing in North Carolina, dozens of craft fairs, the Gem Mining Festival, the Rhododendron Festival, the Gold Festival, and Grandfather Mountain.

If you love hiking, check out Linville Falls, or McCall Lake and Falls.  At 2,386 feet, pathways through Shoal Mountain open up the Blue Ridge front to the North Carolina piedmont area.  Keep your eyes open, though.  Some of the lower-elevation towns are seeing more and more bears out hunting too!  Hunting for the delicious wild blackberries, cherries, grapes, pokeberries, blueberries and raspberries in these hills.
